What has been your challenge?
This is a topic I’m really passionate about because I feel like designers always get the short end of the stick. If a marketing campaign doesn’t go well, it’s the designer’s fault. At least that’s how I was treated at my previous workplace.
But hey, there’s copywriting, there’s a marketing message. Even execution of the marketing campaign and so many other factors involved. It’s not one singular person’s effort - it’s a team, group or collective.
And that’s why I’m always saying designers can do wonders in manipulating people’s emotions with visuals, but you also need a good copywriter and marketer to bring the overall story to life.
I’m so scared of working with marketers I don’t trust because everything is black-and-white to them. They can just throw you under the bus if they don’t do their job well.
I’ve been there so many times fighting for myself. And if the project or campaign is a success? It’s never because of the designer.
